TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police are working to figure out who shot and killed a woman early Tuesday morning.
Officers said their investigation began around 5:45 a.m. when they responded to reports of gunshots at a home on W St. Joseph Street near N Rome Avenue.
When they arrived, they found a woman in her mid-30s. She'd been shot. Life-saving measures were "immediately" started and she was rushed to a nearby hospital. She later died from her injuries.
The shooter was not at the home when police arrived.
Police said they believe the woman and her shooter knew each other. Detectives said they are working to determine what led to the shooting and identify who the shooter is.
