Suspect identified in Thonotosassa shooting

One man was shot and killed by Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies on Smoken Gun Lane in Thonotosassa Tuesday afternoon.
One suspect has been shot by a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy at 11000 Smoken Gun Lane, adjacent to Fort King Highway in Thonotosassa.

THONOTOSASSA, Fla. -- One man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon by Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies on Smoken Gun Lane in Thonotosassa.

Late Tuesday investigators got a search warrant and are in the process of searching the home.

Authorities say deputies were called out to a disturbance at a home at 3:17 p.m. When they got there, they saw a man with a gun, later identified as Todd Tomlinson, and they ordered him to the ground. Tomlinson then reportedly raised the gun toward them and that's when they shot him.

Afterward, when deputies went inside the home and found another man dead inside, later identified as Scott Tomlinson. Todd and Scott are biological brothers. It is unknown what happened between them before the shooting.

The two deputies involved in the shooting, 52-year-old Deputy Mark Barnwell and 45-year-old Master Deputy Izzy Roquemore, have been placed on administrative leave. Barnwell has been with the sheriff's office for 29 years. Roquemore has been with the sheriff's office for 15 years.
