SARASOTA, Fla. — Four teens were arrested for attacking a 67-year-old man last month, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
It happened shortly after 2 a.m. on Oct. 13 on South Orange Avenue near Ringling Boulevard.
The man told police that four young men hit him with their fists, beat him with a tree branch and threw a rock at him, causing visible head injuries.
Immediately after, officers tracked down a car in the area that matched the description the man provided. According to police, inside the car were 18-year-old Adrian Zambrana, who initially provided the fake name “Mitch Houndoras,” and three other boys ages 15, 16 and 17.
At the time of the traffic stop, police said there was not enough evidence to make an arrest. However, investigators later obtained surveillance video that confirmed the man's account of the attack.
All four teens were arrested and charged with aggravated battery of a person 65 years or older. Zambrana is also facing a charge of giving a false name to police.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department non-emergency line at 941-316-1199 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers online or at 941-366-TIPS.
