NOKOMIS, Fla. — A school bus in Sarasota County was damaged after it hit debris left behind by Hurricane Milton, the sheriff's office said Thursday.
It reportedly happened around 8:30 a.m. on Aquila and Adriatic streets. The school bus driver reportedly was going north on Aquila Street in Nokomis and was making a left turn onto Adriatic Street.
Two people, a school board employee and a student, were on board the bus when the crash reportedly happened.
A stop sign that was damaged from Hurricane Milton was leaning over into the roadway, the sheriff's office said.
As the school bus driver was making the left turn, the bus hit the damaged stop sign, damaging about six windows as it completed the turn.
No one was hurt in the collision.
Deputies say they are still investigating.
