ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — Troopers arrested a 46-year-old man for driving under the influence after he hit and killed a teenage motorcyclist, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Michael Risley of Englewood was booked Thursday evening in the Sarasota County jail for DUI manslaughter.
Troopers say Risley was heading north in the left turn lane of Indiana Avenue approaching 1st Avenue when he turned in front of the oncoming southbound rider. The front of the 46-year-old's SUV crashed into the motorcyclist.
The 19-year-old died at the scene of the crash, FHP said.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
