SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Leaders in Sarasota County are asking for your help preserving a piece of history after recent hurricanes destroyed the iconic trolley at North Jetty Park.
The trolley has been there for decades after it was brought down from Ybor City. It was being used to sell concessions, however, there is another building that serves the same purpose. So, there will be a concession stand when the park reopens, several weeks from now.
As they get ready to take down what's left of the trolley, they are looking for ways to keep it's memory alive.
"We're asking the public to provide their stories and memories to us, of the trolley. We know that generations of people have spent time there and we want to hear those stories we want to see those pictures," says Nicole Rissler, director of Sarasota County's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department.
The county has set up an online form for you to upload your photos or share your stories. You can find that here.
