SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. -- A mother who was found guilty for the June 26, 2015 attempted murder of her 6-year-old daughter was sentenced to 40 years in prison Wednesday.
Ashley Parker, convicted for four felony counts including attempted first degree murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated child abuse and resisting an officer with violence, was also sentenced 40 years for aggravated child abuse.
Those two sentences will be served concurrently, according to Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Parker's daughter survived being stabbed and nearly drowned by her mother at her residence at the 2100 block of Leon Avenue in Sarasota. She has since recovered from her injuries.
