ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — Now months after Hurricane Idalia swept through Florida, a portion of a Tampa Bay-area road that was left damaged is finally reopened while another road is set to be under repair.
Sarasota County Public Works gave an update on the projects on Wednesday, announcing that Manasota Key Road is now fully repaired and back open to traffic.
"Final guardrail installation is expected to be completed next week, which may cause the road to be temporarily closed for a couple of days," county leaders explain in the update.
But while that portion of the road reopened, repairs are on the horizon for North Casey Key Road to replace the wooden guardrail system along the revetment area.
The work is scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 27. One lane of the road will be closed between addresses 532 and 846 North Casey Key Road while crews work.
"One lane will remain open for public transportation throughout construction," county leaders added.
Drivers are asked to use caution while traveling in the area.
