SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Part of southbound Interstate 75 in Sarasota County will be shut down for "an extended period" as troopers investigate a deadly crash.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened just after 4 a.m. on I-75 near the River Road exit. Little is known about the crash at this time, but the agency said it involved two vehicles.
One person died as a result of the crash, the sheriff's office said.
As a result of the crash, all southbound lanes of I-75 will be shut down in the area for "an extended period" as Florida Highway Patrol troopers do their investigation.
At this time, all southbound traffic on I-75 is being diverted at River Road, Exit 191.
Drivers are asked to find an alternate route.
