LAKELAND, Fla. -- If you live in Lakeland, Auburndale, Bartow, Haines City, Mulberry, Plant City or Winter Haven, you can get Publix groceries delivered to your front door starting June 28.
The Lakeland-based supermarket company announced Wednesday it was expanding its home delivery service to most of its Polk County stores starting next week. The service is through San Francisco-based Instacart, which is accessed through publix.com/delivery and through the Instacart app.
Publix Delivery doesn't require a membership fee and it's the only service that offers alcohol and liquor delivery from Publix locations. Instacart users can also see if products are in stock through the app.
The company said Publix Delivery through Instacart is available in more than 92 percent of its operating area.
Shipt, another grocery delivery service operating in Publix, said it would also start service in Lakeland, Auburndale, Winter Haven and Bartow, the Lakeland Ledger reported. The newspaper said Shipt shops and delivers from Publix but operates independently from the stores.
Instacart offers unlimited deliveries for $14.99 a month or $99-$149 a year depending on location.
Shipt is membership-based service and offers unlimited deliveries on orders more than $35 for $99 a year.
