Polk County Environmental Lands program has closed several trails for safety concerns due to alligator nesting season.

Polk County's Environmental Lands program has shut down Marsh Rabbit Run Trail at Circle B Bar Reserve after a new nest was discovered along the trail. The trail will be closed until further notice, according to staff. Part of Alligator Alley will also stay closed.

Reserve staff decided to shut the trails down since alligators are often aggressive and territorial of nests and young alligators.

Staff will continue to monitor the trails to determine when its safe for the public to visit again.
