HAINES CITY, Fla. — A passenger in an SUV died from his injuries following an early-morning crash in Polk County, authorities said.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Polk City Road near Prado Grande Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a 35-year-old driver from Haines City lost control of his SUV, causing it to enter the path of an oncoming SUV driven by a 29-year-old Haines City man. The front of the second vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the first vehicle.
The passenger, a 50-year-old from Haines City, died at the hospital, FHP said.
The two other drivers suffered minor injuries in the crash.
