FROSTPROOF, Florida — At one home in Polk County's Frostproof, a mother is missing and her family is left grieving.
Loved ones of Olivia Maldonado De La Torre said she was shot and killed Jan. 7 at a flea market in Arcadia. Deputies from the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office have a warrant out for the arrest of her ex-boyfriend Emilio Gustavo Olalde Angel.
"No words to describe how heartbreaking it is," said Amanda Maldonado, Olivia's sister-in-law.
While nothing may bring Amanda Maldonado back, her family said an arrest would bring justice.
Juanita De La Torre Rodriguez, her grandmother, said she feels isolation and sadness in her heart.
She said she just lost her husband of more than 40 years to cancer last month, and this month, her daughter to a shooting.
The eldest of her grandmother's children, Olivia Maldonado's family describes her as charismatic, the life of the party and a good person to those around her. She worked hard as a hairstylist and dreamt of owning her own business.
She also dreamt of giving her 10-year-old daughter, now under the care of the rest of her family, a decent life.
"I feel like she's still gonna walk through the door," Amanda Maldonado said. "We just miss her."
Amanda Maldonado said her sister-in-law had a big heart and just wanted to share it with someone.
A funeral was held for Olivia Maldonado over the weekend. Her grandmother said it's not fair she had to bury her own child, but an arrest could bring some peace in her heart.
Olivia Maldonado was 47 years old.
Authorities said not to approach Oldade if spotted as he could be armed. They encourage anyone with information to reach out to the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted to SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
Deputies said her ex-boyfriend was last seen leaving the area of the Flea Market driving a White Ford F-150, with tag Y74CQD. The emblem seen on the back window is a scorpion.
