Deadly crash near Davenport causes traffic delays

Details about the crash haven't been released, but we know at least one person died. Part of U.S. 17/92 was shut down for several hours.

DAVENPORT, Fla. — A deadly crash completely shut down a portion of U.S. 17/92 north of Davenport for hours, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. 

It happened around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 17/92 near Ernie Caldwell Boulevard located north of the city of Davenport. Both directions of U.S. 17/92 were closed in the area until 10 a.m.

At least one person died as a result of the crash, according to the sheriff's office. However, further details about what led to the crash or if there were additional injuries have not been released at this time. 

Video from Sky 10 shows the crash involved a sedan, possibly a white Dodge Charger or Challenger, and a semi-truck. 

Drivers in the area were encouraged to take alternate routes.
