Hillsborough deputies say they now know the leg belonged to 38-year-old Kelly Moriarty of Bradenton. The identification only creates more questions, as Moriarty and another woman remain missing.

Moriarty was last seen alive December 16 at the Plant City home of 61-year-old Doris Carter and Carter's live-in daughter. The following morning the daughter woke up to find both Moriarty and Carter gone, along with Moriarty's car.
The daughter tells deputies both women had been romantically involved for the past two years, and that it wasn't uncommon for them to be away for extended periods of time.
Moriarty's car was discovered abandoned several days later on the side of State Road 62 in Parrish by a Manatee County deputy. It would eventually be impounded by the Sheriff's Office.
Meanwhile, a family in St. Petersburg made a horrifying discovery on December 27: a severed leg washed ashore behind the home they were staying in. The body part would remain unidentified until a DNA test finally confirmed it as Moriarty's in March.
There has been no sign of Moriarty and Cartereversince. After Moriarty was reported missing in January, a search of herapartment showed no signs of a disturbance. A Christmas tree was found still up, with unopened presents underneath it.
Asearch of Moriarty's impounded car by crime scene technicians found no evidence of foul play.
Hillsborough deputies are now looking for anyone who may have information related to the disappearances of Moriarty and Carter. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 813-247-8200.
