Police said her husband, 47-year-old David Wittman, confronted his wife at work, held her at gunpoint, then took her outside and shot her before running to the nearby house.

She was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition. She died Tuesday.

David Wittman, 47, held off officers for six-and-a-half hours until police tried to arrest him. He resisted and armed himself, and police opened fire.
