Teen killed in South St. Pete shooting

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — An 18-year-old died from his injuries following a late-night shooting in South St. Petersburg, authorities said.

The shooting happened just before midnight with police receiving calls about people hearing gunfire at the Citrus Groves Apartments, located in the area of 7th Avenue South and 16th Street, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Police said around 1:30 a.m. Friday, they learned that 18-year-old Taiwan Gland was dropped off at a hospital with a gunshot wound. The teen later died from his injuries.

It's believed Gland was shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
