Crash on Howard Frankland Bridge caused major delays

Westbound traffic to Pinellas County was able to get by in only one lane for some time.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A crash caused major delays on the Howard Frankland Bridge Thursday morning, according to FHP.

The crash was reported just after 7:30 a.m. and impacted the westbound lanes of Interstate 275. This was traffic heading from Tampa to St. Petersburg.

Drivers could get by using one westbound lane, but traffic was backed up along the bridge due to other blocked lanes for a while. Sky 10 flew over the area around 8 a.m. where several fire trucks and an ambulance could be seen assisting the crash.

Injuries have been reported, but the extent of those injuries and how many people were hurt is unknown at this time. Additionally, what led to the crash is also not known.
