ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A partial evacuation was ordered Tuesday morning at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System following the discovery of a suspicious package.
In an update at 11:49 a.m., a spokesperson told 10 Tampa Bay the scene was "all clear" and people were going to be allowed back in.
The discovery of the package happened around 9:20 a.m. at a building on the facility's campus on Bay Pines Boulevard just off Alt. U.S. Highway 19.
Law enforcement and the Tampa bomb squad were asked to respond to the scene to inspect the package.
Officials said the package turned out to be items belonging to a veteran who was there for an appointment.
