ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — With its gorgeous waterfront views, year-round warm weather and rich cultural scene, it's no wonder St. Petersburg has solidified itself as a luxury real estate destination.
One lucky buyer recently made the highest-priced condo purchase in the city's more than 120-year history.
The penthouse of St. Pete's 35-story condo tower Saltaire sold last week for a record-breaking $8,250,000 — and it's not even furnished.
"Not only is this a top sale, but the penthouse was sold finishless as a blank slate, with the amenities of Saltaire, the downtown St. Pete location, and the spectacular city and water views being the priority. The new owner has an incredible vision for this residence and will be able to completely customize the home’s interior design," said Jacki Fabrizio, the Smith & Associates listing agent in a statement.
The 6,100-square-foot penthouse includes four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms and a "sprawling" living space, according to Smith & Associates. That living space has 10-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, allowing for abundant natural light.
In addition to the indoor living space, the penthouse includes 1,700 square feet of private outdoor space across three separate balconies and 280-degree views of Tampa Bay and downtown St. Pete.

The owner will also have access to Saltaire amenities like a resort-style pool and spa, concierge and valet services, an expansive deck with cabanas and lounging areas and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Located at 301 1st Street S., the Saltaire penthouse sale markets the highest-priced condo sale in the entire Tampa Bay area for this year, and the third highest of all time for the region.
