$10K reward offered for information in deadly St. Pete hit-and-run

Police say they found the car involved but need more information.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police are still looking for the driver responsible for hitting and killing a woman in St. Petersburg and driving away. To help solve the case, the St. Petersburg Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward.

The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, on 22nd Avenue North near 41st Street. According to police, 70-year-old Karen Moorefield was crossing the street when the driver of a 2013 Cadillac SRX hit her.

The driver didn't stay at the scene and left the area. Moorefield died at the crash site.

Police say they have made some progress in the case — this weekend officers reportedly found the Cadillac SRX, identifying it as a maroon/red SRX SUV. Still, more information is needed to crack the case, police said.
