ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A home on 40th Avenue South was left heavily damaged after it went up in flames Saturday afternoon, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said in a news release.

Crews reportedly responded to the fire around 4:30 p.m. and arrived to find the home fully engulfed. St. Pete Fire said firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread.

The people living at the home were able to evacuate before crews arrived, Fire Rescue said. No injuries were reported.

Crews said the fire made its way to the attic, but firefighters were able to contain it to the back half of the home, which suffered "significant damage."

At this time, investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and crews will remain on scene to help the victims who lost their home.
