St. Pete Beach to shut off water, sewage ahead of Hurricane Milton

According to the city, the deactivation of waterlines is necessary to protect St. Pete Beach's water infrastructure.

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — St. Pete Beach officials are warning residents that water and sewage services in the city will be turned off ahead of Hurricane Milton's expected landfall.

Starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, the city of St. Pete Beach will begin deactivating all waterlines. By noon, waterlines will be completely offline until further notice.

That means during this time, St. Pete Beach residents will not be able to flush toilets or access water for cooking, cleaning, bathing or drinking.

Officials say residents can prepare by stocking up on bottled water for all drinking and bathing needs. They are also encouraged to make alternative arrangements for toilet facilities if needed.

According to the city, the deactivation of waterlines is necessary to protect St. Pete Beach's water infrastructure. 

Those living in St. Pete Beach are also asked to heed evacuation warnings and keep up with updates on the city's social media pages.
