Seminole Fire Rescue mourns loss of lieutenant

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The City of Seminole Fire Rescue Department announced the death of one of its firefighters in a post Monday afternoon.

Lt. Brendon Holcomb was a 14-year veteran of the department. The details of his death were not discussed.

"His love for our profession, his community and his fellow firefighters was exhibited with a palpable energy that will not be soon forgotten," the post stated.

According to the SFRD, Holcomb was recently awarded the Department Medal of Honor for his "heroic actions" on the scene of an overturned vehicle in a body of water.

"The loss of Lt. Holcomb has sent a shock not only through our department, but through many other departments around the county, he was well known throughout our fire community," the post stated.

The department said it stays committed to Seminole.

"While our Seminole Firefighters and staff are absolutely heartbroken, we remain steadfast with the same commitment to our great profession and the mission Lt. Holcomb was proud to call his own," the post read.
