ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa-based coffee roaster and the Lakeland-based supermarket chain are teaming up to roll out in-store cafes in more than 100 Publix locations in the southeast region.
The rollout starts with some locations in Winter Garden and Bradenton and will include a new Cubano blend created specifically for the new Publix cafes. The new blend is described as strong and robust with a sweet finish and is best served as an espresso of cafe con leche.
By year's end, Publix is aiming to open 130 similar cafe locations in stores. The cafes will be at the entrances and will feature a barista bar with freshly-brewed Kahwa Coffee drinks, bags of their blend and K-Cups.
"We are absolutely over the moon that Publix is working with a local Florida roaster," Kahwa owner Raphael Perrier said in a release. "Consumers like to enjoy coffee as they shop and tasting the product is the best opportunity to create a lifelong customer and drive sales for Publix."
The announcement of in-store cafes comes just after the coffee roaster announced two more locations coming to International Plaza in Tampa and University Town Center in Sarasota.
