Police: Man riding e-scooter killed after colliding with PSTA bus in St. Pete

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A man was killed after colliding with a PTSA bus Tuesday morning in St. Petersburg, police say.

It happened shortly after 11 a.m. at the intersection of 22nd Avenue North and the Pinellas Trail, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The agency said the bus, which was carrying 10 passengers on board, collided with the man while he was riding an electric scooter. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

No injuries were reported on the bus.

Law enforcement officials say the intersection of 22nd Avenue North and 70th Street North is currently closed as an investigation is ongoing. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route.
