Woman killed, 9-year-old girl seriously injured after crash in Pinellas Park

The driver of the car, Enerildo Rojas, has been charged with DUI manslaughter, DUI serious bodily injury and resisting an officer.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A woman was killed and a nine-year-old girl was left seriously injured after they were hit by a car while riding a motorcycle Friday night on Highway 19 in Pinellas Park.

The Pinellas Park Police Department arrested the driver, 56-year-old Enerildo Rojas, and charged him with DUI manslaughter, DUI serious bodily injury and resisting an officer, according to a news release.

Officers said Rojas was traveling north on Highway 19 before turning left into the motorcycle's path. The motorcycle reportedly struck the passenger side of Rojas's car.

The woman driving the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. The nine-year-old girl was also hospitalized, and officers say she remains in serious, but stable condition.

The crash closed US 19 northbound at 82nd Avenue, but that area has reopened to traffic.
