PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A 30-year-old man faces murder charges after police say he shot and killed two people Saturday night in Pinellas Park.

The shooting investigation began around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of 41st Street N near 66th Avenue N in Pinellas Park. When officers arrived, they said they found 54-year-old John Luke Jr. dead at the scene.

A second man, 42-year-old Brain Mikell was also shot. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.

As the investigation progressed, police said they were able to identify Austin Skonecki, 30, as the suspected shooter. Skonecki was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Police say they discovered Skonecki knew both Luke and Mikell before the shooting. The public is not in danger, police added.

The investigation continues but police said they don't expect additional updates at this time.

Editor's note: Police corrected Luke's age to 54; a previous release stated he was 35.
