ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Deputies arrested a 31-year-old Pinellas Park firefighter Saturday night for drunken driving, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Sean Murphy of the Pinellas Park Fire Department was charged with driving under the influence, the sheriff's office said in a news release. The off-duty firefighter was observed just after 10 p.m. going 77 mph on Gandy Boulevard heading west, deputies said.
The speed limit in the area is 55 mph.
During a traffic stop, he reportedly smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot watery eyes and couldn't stand straight. Murphy also agreed to perform field sobriety tests but performed poorly, the sheriff's office said.
He was booked at the Pinellas County Jail.
