Some parks, government services to reopen in Pinellas County after Hurricane Helene

While some are parks reopening, there are still parts within them that could remain closed due to damage.

Walsingham Reservoir in Largo is listed as having a "high hazard potential" for failure and doesn't have an Emergency Action Plan in place.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — While many departments will still be closed to for Hurricane Helene response, some parks and government services in Pinellas County will be open to the public once again.

According to Pinellas County officials, limited services are expected to reopen Monday. Those services include the payment center for utilities, the solid waste disposal complex, multiple county parks and more.

As far as county services go, the following is set to reopen Monday:

  • Utilities: Payment center on 14 S. Ft. Harrison Avenue in Clearwater, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Solid Waste Disposal Complex: Open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3095 114th Avenue N., St. Petersburg
  • Building and Development Review Services: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Animals Services Adoption Center: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The following county parks will also reopen, but certain areas could still be closed due to power outages or damage.

  • Walsingham
  • Boca Ciega
  • Sawgrass Lake
  • Brooker Creek Preserve and Ed Center
  • A.L. Anderson
  • Eagle Lake (dog park closed)
  • John Taylor
  • Ridgecrest 
  • Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail

Damage and/or unsafe conditions will keep the following parks closed for now:

  • Fort De Soto
  • War Veterans
  • Lake Seminole
  • Sand Key
  • Fred Howard
  • Wall Springs
  • Weedon Island Preserve and Ed Center
  • Pinewood Cultural Park (Florida Botanical Garden, Heritage Village)
  • Philippe Park

The Ochs and Lealman neighborhood parks remain open.
