PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Pinellas County man won a $1 million prize after playing a scratch-off game, the Florida Lottery announced in a press release.
Silver Figueredo, 53, purchased the ticket from Hercules Chevron located at 1790 North Hercules Avenue in Clearwater. He played the $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular Scratch-Off game, which the Florida Lottery said has a 1-in-4.50 odds of winning.
Figueredo chose to collect his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000. The retailer also received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
Since their inception, scratch-off games have reportedly awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires and generated more than $19.24 billion for Florida's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
