ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — An 89-year-old man died from his injuries following a crash Sunday evening on the Pinellas Bayway, police said.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on the Pinellas Bayway at Bahia Del Mar Boulevard, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Police say a Hyundai Tucson was traveling west when its driver tried to make a left turn onto Bahia del Mar Boulevard. At the same time, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was heading east.
The two cars collided at the intersection, police said, which sent the Hyundai into a Buick Enclave stopped at a stop sign.
Three people inside the Hyundai and the driver of the Toyota were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Philip Rose, an 89-year-old from Nova Scotia, Canada, who was a passenger inside the Hyudnai, died from his injuries, according to St. Pete police.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
