ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - What is a pedalboard? Think of stand-up paddleboards that you pedal
Walk on Water Pedalboard Tours, in St. Pete, offers tours on these new self-propelled water vessels that offer a much better vantage point than a kayak or canoe.
“We regularly see dolphins,” said Chris Burton, the owner of Walk on Water, “If we’re lucky we see manatees, but on a daily basis we see numerous types of stingrays.
The pedals on the pedalboard are more like a stair stepper than bike pedals. Handlebars help you stay balanced and levers that look like hand brakes control the board.
“It’s a very stable platform, it’s 12 ft long, and it’s very, very unlikely that you’re going to lose your balance and fall over,” Burton said.
No experience is needed, and an introductory demonstration is included in rentals and tours.
