SEMINOLE, Fla. — A 37-year-old man was killed following a crash involving his motorcycle and another car in Seminole, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Deputies say they were called just before 8 p.m. Tuesday to 72nd Avenue North and Seminole Boulevard regarding a crash between a car and a motorcycle.

Investigators say 37-year-old Timothy Sterbens was driving his 2012 Ducati motorcycle at a "high rate of speed" northbound on Seminole Boulevard just south of Park Boulevard.

At the same time, the 56-year-old driver of a Mazda 3 was exiting the shopping plaza located on the east side of Seminole Boulevard and 72nd Avenue North. As the Mazda driver started to cross the northbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard from east to west, Sterbens collided with the woman's car as he crossed the shopping plaza exit.

Sterbens was rushed to the hospital where he died. The Mazda driver was not hurt.

Investigators say speed appears to be a factor in this crash.
