Pickleball courts, new playground among amenities coming soon to McKay Park

The renovations at McKay Park are set to be completed in January 2025.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — If you're a pickleball fanatic in the Tampa Bay area, a new set of courts is coming soon to a popular local park.

The city of Clearwater announced that McKay Park, located off Mandalay Avenue, is soon adding six new pickleball courts as part of renovation plans.

Along with the new courts, the city also announced the following changes coming to the park:

  • New playground 
  • Outdoor exercise equipment 
  • A resurfaced bocce ball court 
  • New shade structures 
  • Stormwater improvements 
  • Improved landscaping and other park amenities

City staff is working with the Clearwater Beach Civic Association and residents to develop a comprehensive plan for the park's renovations.

"McKay Park has been a gathering place for beach residents and visitors for decades," Clearwater Mayor Bruce Rector said in a statement. "These renovations not only enhance the park's facilities but also reflect our commitment to providing recreational spaces that meet the evolving needs of our residents. We look forward to seeing people enjoy the new courts and amenities."

The renovations at McKay Park are set to be completed in January 2025.
