SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. — Thanks to the help of a couple of heroes, a man lives to run another race.
Anthony Kerns collapsed while running during a 5K event in February and was saved by a fellow runner and first responders.
A reunion was held Monday.
An off-duty nurse and Sunstar paramedics acted fast at the time, giving CPR at the scene, helping Kerns regain circulation and consciousness before he was rushed to the hospital.
Since then, Kerns recovered from open heart bypass surgery and just recently returned to work.
"God had you right where you needed to be, and I appreciate it so much and you guys being there to provide the care," Kerns said.
