ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A man is seriously hurt after he was in a home that caught fire Saturday afternoon in St. Petersburg, officials say.
At around 2:15 p.m., firefighters arrived at the 2800 block of 16th Avenue North following reports of smoke coming from a house, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said in a news release.
At the home, authorities say they saw a fire in the kitchen. The fire was under control quickly.
Officials say they searched the home to see if anyone was inside and found a man with serious injuries. He was then taken out of the home.
Paramedics with St. Pete Fire Rescue reportedly began treating the man and took him to Bayfront Health.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. The incident is still being investigated.
