DUNEDIN, Fla. — A romantic comedy premiering on the Hallmark Channel next month not only showcases the beautiful Tampa Bay area but was also filmed in Dunedin.
And you have the chance to see the movie before anyone else and meet the stars.
"A Taste of Love" is set in Dunedin and was filmed in the area over three weeks. During the film, the audience will see iconic local establishments such as Sea Sea Riders, Fenway Hotel and the Wild Iris Cafe.
Additionally, the film showcases the natural beauty of Pinellas County through Clearwater Beach, Edgewater Park and the Pinellas Trail.
Tampa-based independent film company Digital Caviar is behind the production, writing and directing of "A Taste of Love." The company chose to film the project in the St. Pete/Clearwater area because of "the beauty of the area, the friendly work environment and talented crew in Pinellas County." The Visit St. Pete/Clearwater Film Commission also worked to facilitate production.
"A Taste of Love" debuts at 8 p.m. Feb. 19 on the Hallmark Channel. It stars Martin Kove, known for his roles in "The Karate Kid" and "Cobra Kai;" his son, Jesse Kove, best known for the film "On Wings of Eagles;" and Erin Cahill, known for starring roles in Hallmark films and appearances in multiple network TV shows. Cahill also serves as a producer of the project.
According to a release, the film follows the story of a "successful, professional young woman at the top of her career making a living as a TV host (showcasing food) in one of the biggest cities in the South. She demonstrates her culinary skills on camera in the fast-paced world of television. When she returns to visit her Florida roots in Tampa Bay, she reconnects with her family, rediscovers her passion for food and finds unexpected happiness from a past relationship."
Before the film premieres on the Hallmark Channel, people will be able to see it during the Dunedin International Film Festival. A live panel discussion of "A Taste of Love" will take place on Feb. 2 followed by an advanced screening of the film. For more information, click here.
Pinellas County has been the filming location for several films in recent years. Back in 2022, actor Dean Cain played the Dunedin mayor in the independent film "R.A.D.A.R.: Adventures of the Bionic Dog." Last year, a film called "Valentine's Town" was also filmed in Dunedin.
