PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — One person is dead after they were hit while trying to cross a road Wednesday night in Pinellas Park, according to police.
It happened around 10:15 p.m. on Gandy Boulevard near Lillian and Roberts lanes. When police arrived at the crash site, they pronounced the pedestrian dead.
According to police, it appears the pedestrian was trying to cross Gandy Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk when they were hit by the driver of a small SUV traveling eastbound.
Police say the SUV driver stayed at the crash site and is "fully cooperating" with authorities. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing, the agency said.
