ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A former St. Pete City Council member was arrested Friday for allegedly hiding cameras in an air vent to watch a woman use the bathroom and shower.
According to the arrest affidavit, the woman knew 64-year-old Jeffrey Ronald Danner and was staying at his home located off of Dartmouth Avenue North on Nov. 13.
On that day, the woman reportedly noticed the cameras in the air vent as she was using Danner's bathroom, one of which was pointing towards her in the shower and the other one towards the toilet. She then took photos of the cameras and provided it to authorities.
The woman confronted Danner in a text, according to the affidavit. He responded back saying he "realized how stupid and perverted it was."
Records show detectives worked with the woman to conduct a controlled phone call in which Danner admitted to installing the cameras in the bathroom, saying "it was a stupid idea" and apologized.
Danner previously served as a city council member for District 8. He reportedly lost his bid for reelection in 2021 to Richie Floyd.
Danner was arrested on one count of digital voyeurism and booked into jail on a $10,000 bond, the booking report states.
