What are some safety tips to be aware of when setting up Christmas lights?
In its Christmas Light Safety Guide, CNET said that people looking to "pull a Clark Griswold" should use the right ladder. Metal ladders conduct electricity, leading to electrical shocks.
Instead, CNET recommends homeowners use fiberglass or wooden ladders when hanging lights to avoid those electrical shocks.
Here are a few other safety tips to be aware of this holiday season, according to CNET:
- Beware of missing or broken bulbs
- Keep your cords dry
- Prevent tripping hazards
- Don't keep your lights up for too long
- Never use staples, tacks or nails to hang lights
