CLEARWATER, Fla. — Fire and rescue crews Friday evening are on the scene of a structure fire at a scrap metal recycling business in Clearwater.
The fire broke out around 12:12 p.m. on Gentry Drive.
Clearwater public safety officials say the fire was caused by appliance debris from Hurricane Milton. They say the fire will be burning for a long time.
They want to remind people in the nearby areas to properly dispose of hazardous materials.
You can take hazardous chemicals and items to Pinellas County Solid Waste for proper recycling and disposal.
You can also drop materials off at two locations for free.

WHEN: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays to Fridays and the first and third Saturday of each month.

Large lithium-ion batteries, such as car batteries, lawnmower batteries and E-bike batteries affected by the storm must be disposed of by a private-sector recycling company.
