FBI: Man who escaped custody in Tennessee found, arrested in Pinellas County

Sean Williams was held in federal custody for charges of child sexual abuse material and distribution of cocaine.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — After federal authorities asked for the public's help Tuesday afternoon, a man who escaped custody in Tennessee about a month ago has been arrested once again.

Sean Williams, 52, was arrested by law enforcement officials in Pinellas County around 9 p.m. after he was spotted in the area earlier in the day, a spokesperson for the FBI told 10 Tampa Bay. Williams was reportedly found on Walsingham Road near Ridge Road in Largo.

Williams was taken in without incident after he was tracked down by a K-9 officer and his partner, FBI Knoxville said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Officials say Williams was wanted for escaping a transport van while being moved from a Kentucky detention facility to the federal courthouse in Greeneville, Tennessee.

He was held in federal custody for charges of child sexual abuse material and distribution of cocaine.

When he first escaped, authorities say he was seen several blocks away from the courthouse asking a person to borrow a phone.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for the 52-year-old on Oct. 18.
