ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Officers arrested a man wanted in connection to a double homicide in Savannah, Georgia.
Derek Johnson, 46, was taken into custody just before 11 p.m. Sunday without incident, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Police say Johnson shot and killed a man and a woman just after midnight Friday, according to WJCL-TV. There was reason to believe he was in the St. Petersburg area, local authorities said, and it wasn't before long he was arrested.
It's not yet known what prompted authorities to believe he was in the Tampa Bay region.
The Georgia TV station reported that Johnson was said to be armed and dangerous.
