Police: E-bike rider dead after crash on 28th Street North in St. Pete

The victim, a 46-year-old man, died from his injuries at the scene, according to officers.

St. Petersburg police officers are investigating a deadly crash that shut down traffic on 28th Street North.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 46-year-old e-bike rider died from his injuries after a crash Friday morning on 28th Street North.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. at 28th Street and Haulkey Robert PL N, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a news release.

Police said the driver of a Ford Fusion and the e-bike rider were heading south on 28th Street in the curb lane when they crashed. The driver of a second car, a Nissan Quest, hit the 46-year-old after he fell from his e-bike, officers said. He reportedly died from his injuries at the scene.

Officers said the identity of the 46-year-old man will be released once next of kin is notified. The drivers of both cars are cooperating with the police department.

St. Pete police say the investigation is ongoing.
