DUNEDIN, Fla. — A 34-year-old bicyclist died from his injuries after an SUV crashed into him late Thursday night.
The crash happened just after 11 p.m. on Patricia Avenue just south of Virginia Street, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Samuel McVicker was riding his bike in the southbound lanes when an 18-year-old SUV driver came upon him. It's believed McVicker was trying to cross the street when he was hit by the SUV.
The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, the bicycle lights did not activate.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
