Clearwater police: Tire comes off car, bounces and slams into vehicle's windshield

Neither a woman and her child needed medical treatment.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A woman and her daughter inside a car experienced a scary moment Saturday evening in Clearwater after police say a tire slammed and broke the windshield.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on U.S. 19, just north of Drew Street, when a tire from a car heading southbound came off, bounced over the median and landed onto the windshield of the car that the woman and child were inside of, the Clearwater Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Authorities say the child was in the back seat while the woman was driving the car. Luckily, the tired mainly struck the front passenger side of the car.

After crews with Clearwater Fire and Rescue checked the mother and daughter for any injuries, they determined neither one of them had to go to the hospital to receive any treatment.
