CLEARWATER, Fla. — The City of Clearwater announced Coachman Park’s 4,000-seat concert venue will now be named "The BayCare Sound," according to a press release on Tuesday.

The city struck a 10-year, multi-million dollar deal with BayCare Health, to sponsor the concert hall after a marketing consultant negotiated the deal.

It comes after the city redeveloped the 24-acre urban waterfront as part of its long-term plan to update public art and green spaces.

Clearwater City Council approved a contract with the marketing consultant in March 2022 to help the city find a sponsor for “The Sound,” according to the release.

Months later, the council selected Ruth Eckerd Hall to manage and operate the venue, according to the hall's website.

That’s when BayCare, the city and the hall agreed to form a partnership, which was instrumental in forging the venue’s new name.

“Having such a well-respected community institution associated with this community treasure
is the perfect fit," Ruth Eckerd Hall President and CEO, Susan M. Crockett said.

The city council must approve the name at its meeting on Thursday, March 7.

BayCare will have the option to request a ten-year extension of the contract when it expires in 2034.
