CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Clearwater man died after him and his son were rescued from the waters of Clearwater Beach on Friday night.
Officials received a call about the incident just before 7 p.m. Friday from the area of the Opal Sands Resort.
A father and son were swimming when they began struggling in the water near the jetty on the south part of the beach, according to law enforcement.
The father was pulled from the water, treated by medics on scene and transported to Morton Plant Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The son was taken to Morton Plant Hospital as a precaution but is expected to be ok.
The Clearwater Police Department is continuing to investigate.
