Clearwater Beach, Florida -- Clearwater Beach looked like the wild west Monday night. One day later, it's calm, but there is still anger.

"It was violent, it was dangerous and people were shooting guns. Someone could have been killed," said a visitor from Memphis.

There is also fear. Alex Leonard and her family live directly across the street from where the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach shootings took place.

"I had to push the kids under the bed because I was afraid a bullet would come through the wall," said Leonard.

Rich LaPlant works in the parking lot next to the Hyatt.

"I've never seen anything like this happen here," he said.

LaPlant dodged bullets.

"When they started shooting from the parking garage, all I could think about was taking cover. We tried to help people get behind cars."

Bullet holes are clearly visible on the corner of the Hyatt building. Police are still investigating what caused the melee, and will be making changes.

"We are monitoring everything. We are watching social media. We want to make sure the beach is safe," said Clearwater Police Department spokesperson Joelle Castelli.
